No.Because they weren't, and I was there. In the "Saturday Evening Post "America, women, blacks, and Hispanics were second and third class citizens. Medical technology was not nearly as advanced as now, child and spousal abuse was accepted and covered up, and Americans were expected to be "good Christians." "Niceness", like wearing gloves to church, was the norm. Everything was judged to be either good or bad, and any woman without a man was automatically considered fair game ( not that this has changed much!) In many circles divorced women were literally shunned. The old days sucked.

I guess it depends on when you are refering to.. some on here may be talking about a couple of years ago. For me growing up in the '60s and '70s I would say so. My town was so small we didn't even have a cop. No crime We could walk around town at any given time with no worries. Ahhh the good ole days.

No. The good old days is a mythical never-never land that conservative people imagine once existed.
The funny thing is, if you go back to what people were writing about back in "the good old days" they were talking about how wicked their times were and about the good even older days before them. And if you check on that time, people were saying the same thing. Ad infinitum.

In some way, yes. In some ways, no. Memory has a tendency to remember the better parts and allow the worst to fade.
The innocence of sharing a soda at the soda shop is clearly overridden by the fact that black people couldn't do the same, but we tend to forget that aspect and just remember the soda shop.

Everyone has good old days they think were better times than now. Usually it is because their so-called good old days where less complicated for one reason or another.

The good old days were pre industrial revolution when people were in tune with nature, life wasn't complicated and people knew everyone intimately in their small village communities. No loneliness and no boredom ( the word wasn't invented till the industrial revolution - because there was no need for it). There was no stress from an overpopulated country. There were problems with disease, but thats it.
