well, here in the South, they do it to look " mature". and some do so because they have a " chew" in place. and yes, it is disgusting, even though i am guilty of such a " crime," and I am felame! I don't want to swallow a loogey, or i am sick, and need to spit . Either way, I agree with you, it is disgusting and unsanitary!

My husband additionally does this and it drives me loopy! I even have 3 older brothers and none of them ever spit. My husband comes from a wealthy kinfolk, tremendously knowledgeable and has super manners. it incredibly is barely a form of issues that i won't be able to get him to shake for some reason. He grew up in Texas, and many of the adult adult males spit there. i think of it is gross and am nonetheless attempting to get him to end. He claims that if he swallows the spit, he will fall unwell. I call him a mendacity sack of horse manure.

YES!!!! finally someone else who thinks so!!! granted, sometimes it is just necessary, you know you have a cold and don't want to swallow something you just coughed up..still gross, but necessary...I'd go with a napkin if I had one...but some guys just spit just to spit and it's disgusting.

That is because some are tobacco chewers and others have colds and some just developed the nasty habit. For any reason it is very unfavorable to society.

It is especially nasty when women do it, and I have seen a woman in a nice dress just lean over and hawk one up on the sidewalk.
