I know I'm in for a hell ride. I am aware it is going to be agony.
I want to hear how you coped during labour. Any techniques used to clear your mind or just to help cope with the pain?
Anything that may be helpful!
Thank you

I had family in the room with me so they kept me occupied.

Everyone talks about a focal point -- I didn't bring one or plan on having one, but with my second daughter it just happened. There was a sheet of green paper with a calendar on it and whenever I had a contraction I HAD to look at that paper. I stared at each block for a couple of second until it was over.

I also requested an epidural the minute I could have one. I know some people believe in 'natural' child birth, but not me! My daughter ended up to be 9 lb, 10 oz. I still felt her being born, believe me! It just wasn't agonizing.

Mainly, do whatever feels best to you. I wanted to take a bath and it only lasted a couple of minutes. I felt bad they had gone to all that trouble, but they are used to it. If you want to be in a different position, try it. Utilize the nurses as best as you can.

I have had four with no medication. It was not a hell ride and it was not agony. Menstral cramps are worse than labor. I used the Bradley method, which prevents uterine cramps. Over 90% of those who use the Bradley method do not need pain medication. My pain was maybe 5 on a scale of 1-10. Even then, that was only during a contraction; it did not hurt in between. The pushing contractions were painless.

Well it has been a while since I gave birth. But, I do remember the pain. Every women is different, I consider myself pretty tough, I won't lie and say it's a peice of cake. The pain is bad it's like menstraul cramps times 100. Go into labor with a open mind try differnt things like walking and laying in different positions, and get a epedurial if you need it. You'll forget about the pain after the baby is born and it is all worth it

Every one is different when it comes to labor. When I went into labor I didn't even know I was in labor my contractions didn't hurt at all it just felt like a mild period cramp. By the time I got to the hospital and was admitted I was at 4 and I was able to get my epidural immediately. So I was never in any kind of pain untill they had to do a c-section.

get epidural first of all! but i brought games and had people in the room with my while i was in labor. now for the delivery i kicked everyone out and my epidural stopped working! i personally think that labor and delivery is not as bad as people say it is. for my it was after i delivered and was recovering. it is painful i will admitt, but you can get through it and it is so worth it in the end! just try to have a little support group with you and rest when you can! good luck!

I had an epidural which made labor a breeze! I slept through labor, had friends and family visiting. Then, it wore off and I felt it ALL! :) Get the drugs.

EPIDURAL!!! That is how I survived. Also, some calming music, a favorite movie. I honestly thought it was not as bad as I thought it would be, considering my epidural wore off before I delivered, so I felt it all! It wasn't too bad.
