for those opposed to same sex relationships/ marriage: if 'adam & he' went before God & promised to love and respect one another. and they ACTUALLY did for the rest of their lives, you would still be opposed because you consider that to be unnatural?

but if 'adam & she' went before God & made the same promises.. but adam was abusive, he cheated and he had a child with his other woman -- that would be ok, because it's natural??

GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

I always thought that marriage and family are intertwined. Man, Woman, and children. From this point of view same sex marriage doesn't make any sense. Most gay couples don't have children. But if a gay couple needs that little extra something to make their relationship a life long commitment why not let them. Who is it actually hurting? It's not like all of us straight people are the defenders of the sanctity of marriage at a 50% divorce rate.

It doesn't accomplish anything a civil union won't,unless they want a ceremony and they can get that at a gay church called MCC. Much ado about nothing. A media hot-button staple, but really kind of a tempest in a teapot. I suspect the whole issue is designed to distract activist types from the war in Iraq. All the publicity is generated by one guy named Wolfson in NYC,heavily bankrolled by this wealthy jewish couple for offices and a top-flight p.r. agency, which floods the media with articles on this Burning Issue of Today.

being a Roman Catholic I used to believe in a completely hetrosexual world nd thought it was disgusting. The story of Adam and Eve was created that men nd women are attracted to each other... Also, being Catholic, I think that humans do make mistakes and are all different so i'm really not sure. On another hand, if we were all gay or lesbians or bisexual then our lovely world that God made us would just be wasted because we all know two men cannot possibly make children (and the same with 2 women) so we would all die out nd his creation would rot. And thats not nice considering he really loves no matter what we do. Interesting topic tho

As a Christian I am against same sex relations of any kind, including marriage. But, as a human I understand some people choose to be in that kind of relationship and are only happy with that kind. So I don't think its fair to give more rights to one group of people who want to commit over another. I understand the word marriage is a big thing, and that many people will object to it being used to describe same sex unions, so maybe an alternative would be to rephrase it, give the gays the same right to form a two unit union similar to marriage, but give it a different name so it doesnt offend those against it.

Personally I feel that everyone should enjoy the same rights no matter what their race, religion or sexual orientation.
Gay men and woman just want to be treated the same. If they are allowed to marry they will have the same legal rights as heterosexual couples. Maybe if we were more tolerant towards others the world would be a better place.

Love is love no matter who it's between. Same sex couples should have the same rights as any other couple. It's despicable that in 2007 we still get come to terms with the times we live in. I am for it, without a doubt. The end.

In all honesty, it doesn't bother me. Marriage is based on love, whether it is two people of the same sex or opposite sexes. Some people go through their whole lives looking for a partner they love and who truly loves them and not find them. I think we should celebrate the finding of love and the commitment to a couple's love in the future through marriage...it doesn't matter if they are same or opposite sex.

Well I believe that by definition the concept doesnt exist since by definition a marraige is a man and a woman. Call it a civil union, or whatever...Go ahead and offer some of the legal benifits. I'm just not for changing the definition of words.

I'm against it. Marriage is between a man and a woman.
