Type casting depends on the director, so blonde or not Sharpay may be in your future if you can do the part. Gabriella however is Latina with brown hair. I believe as long as you can sing and you have the acting chops then you have a shot. If you need to improve then you know what to do... lessons if at all possible and lots of practice, but be careful not to push it too far too fast (you could hurt your voice beyopnd repair if you do that). Remember the tortoise wins the race.

well, you need to be confident in yourself... If you have time, ask your school's music teacher for some extra help, he/she can work with you through songs, and help you be better prepared for the audition. Work your rehearsal scenes with someone, be prepared to improvise, and try not to depend on your lines during the audition. Try to have a strong audition partner, so you have someone to lean on if you get nervous. The last thing, if you can study your character (watch the movie) do so, it will give you a better idea of how you can jump into the charater for the audition. I hope these little things help at least a little. Good Luck!

Well they might NOT always choose someone with blonde hair so the biggest thing you need to fucus on is your talent. Practice your audition song until your perfect at it. Then practice all the songs in the musical in that way. Also remember to be fearless in the audition. Your teacher will not want to see you nervous. Take control of the entire room and just shine. But remember to practice and work until you're perfect!

Lessons, professional lessons immediately.
The look of any character does not need to match a movie, but no doubt you will be competing against girls with solid singing experience. "pretty good" won't cut it. You'll need the range, the ear and the rhythm and if you have no solo singing experience you are behind the competition.
