Everytime I want to put the pound sign in (as pounds sterling) all I get is #. I have a Dell Dimension 5150 using XP home.
Please help as Dell want to charge me 20 quid to fix it.

Your computer thinks that it is the US and has an American keyboard.

You need to change your country to the UK.

Control Panel --> Regional and Language Options.

Under Advanced click on the pull down and select English (United Kingdom)

You could use the MSFT Keyboard Remapping Utility, to create your own user specific keyboard layout.
You can also change the keyboard that is configured for your PC. Start- Control Panel - Regional and Language Options - Language tab - change to English United Kingdom.

£. Hot dam thats the 1st time I did that, being I have an American keyboard, In The United States. But that explains it! DELL!

Go to Start then run

type CHARMAP into run and you will get all the characters than just copy and paste €, or place you mouse over it and it will provide the hot key short cut.
