My door was damaged when on of the rollers jammed and caused the drive to rip the metal sheet where the chain attaches to the door away from the rest of the door. The hinge is still intact, its just the top 2 rivets were ripped away from the door. The metal on the door and the part that pulled off is pretty mangled and I dont think reattaching it with a new set of rivets is an option unless I replace the whole top section of the door.

Since the door is an insulated kind, there is a bunch of torn up insulating foam in the space where the metal ripped away. Is there some kind of adhesive that I could use in there? Am i better off trying to rig up some hardware? The metal is pretty bent and mangle...

I would probably try to plate over the section that was torn off with a new piece of sheet metal. Make the new piece overlap onto the "good" metal of the door by at least 6 inches on the sides and bottom. The new metal should be a bit thicker then the old sheet metal. Use bolts to through bolt new piece onto old section. Drill holes to remount your garage door opener.

The only other option really is to buy a new section of garage door and replace the torn one with the new one.

Even with your description, it's hard
to give you a definite answer.
That metal was probably a structurally
stressed part of the panel.
If it's too badly mangled to be refastened
in place, a patch could be 'pop riveted` in
to replace it, but the strength might be
compromised. - Evaluate visually.
There are spray canned foams that could
fill in the void and be trimmed to fit.
Considering the time a good repair would
take, you might be best off with a new panel.

Unless you are a gifted craftsman in the sheet metal field, it is doubtful that you will be able to restore it to its former glory. You probably can get it to a functional state. The question is just how ugly are you willing to tolerate? I would recommend that you replace the section that is damaged with an entire new panel (after you repair the cause of the original failure).

If it is a sectional door try getting a replacement panel. A door installing company can steer you as to what to do call them.
