Have you noticed that after posting an answer to a question, some people "thumbs down" EVERYONE else in order to raise their status on the question?

Just wondering if someone has a philosophical or psychological answer for this.

Ten points to the best answer! ...regardless of the number of "thumbs-down's" they may get on this one. d:)

I give thumbs up but never thumbs down. It's rude and not condusive to an open discussion.

People may do it so that they can get the best answer if the poster doesn't pick and it defaults to the thumbs.

Dude, you are very observant, wasn't it you that pointed out that people change their answers and get best question?

I don't know about this forum, but the "Women and Gender Studies" forum is pretty much a three-ring circus- and there are more than a few people who do give everyone's else's answers a "thumbs down" (regardless of what's being said, or how good of an answer it is)- just to make people mad. It seems to be something that people do who tend to always get "thumbs down" themselves. Perhaps it makes them "feel better" somehow. It's quite immature, if you ask me.

They get shot out for considered one of those motives. i think of maximum in lots of circumstances through fact the guy asking the question has a preconceived answer and does not prefer to hearken to different comments. After that there is a posse that seems becoming who do not prefer to earnings that questions are interior the incorrect class and somewhat do not supply plenty greater suggestion different than "re positioned up in class the place you may desire to get greater advantageous solutions." some human beings have "followings" who basically prefer to TD each and every little thing we write no remember how properly versed. a mutually as back i replaced into accountable of the "computerized TD" as quickly as I hovered over the icon and my mouse appeared to automobile click. I edited my answer with an apology to the answerer. (Which I remember replaced into an surprising reaction.) often I avert the TU/TD, yet am plenty greater probable to pass thumbs up ... Very not often do I hire Caesar's "kill the gladiator" pose.

i have noticed this and it's so... well, i'm not sure if i should laugh or cry! i mean, especially here in the psychology section, in the mental health section and in other serious categories where people are trying to help, that's a selfish and stupid thing to do! it's even worse than the polls and surveys where they give thumbs down because ''they didn't like your screen name''!
