Last night I was standing for about an hour or more while I was cooking dinner. When I sat down to eat everything was fine. When I finished eating, I got up to put the dishes away and I had this terrible tight feeling on my back. I went to restroom because I thought I needed to empty my bladder, but I could hardly stand my back while sitting there. I tried to lay down on my left side & on right side, but it felt worse. It went away after about 5 minutes, but I was wondering if anyone else experienced this? It was really bad on my back...it hasn't came back since and I sure hope it never happens again!

You could be having Braxton Hicks contractions, which are normal. You also are carrying a lot of weight at this point, and that puts strain on your round tendons and on your softened joints in your back.

If it comes back repeatedly, say more than six in an hour, and gets worse and painful so that you have to breath through them, go to the doctor.

Rest is the best thing for Braxton Hicks contractions.

When I was pregnant (almost 18 years ago)... I had really bad back aches... but then it was severe when I was in labor!

You may want to have a check up with your OB... if you don't have one scheduled soon. You may have been have some contractions.

If you're not still in pain that is! If you are, I'd call the OB office & ask if you should go to the ER or not.

If you're not... then stay off your feet for a while... that will help... It's just a way you're body is telling you that you worked way too much!

Good luck! :)
& I'll keep you in my prayers!! :)

Sounds like a touch of sciatica. Its a nerve in your back that can cause pain down your legs and into your hips as well as your back.

You probably inflammed it while standing so long making dinner.

Sit down between doing things and give your back a rest.

If the pain comes back, and rest doesnt help, call your doctor...just to be sure its not a contraction to worry about.

There is a nerve in your back that is affected by your growing uterus...sometimes certain positions will trigger that feeling...when I was pregnant with my first child every time I had an orgasm I would get back pain. Also, if it ran down your leg it could be your sciatic nerve -which is completely normal. Call your doctor if it still worries you or happens again.

30 weeks is about the time the baby turns upside down. I wonder if that was what caused all your discomfort.
