It depends on the company you deal with. You'll probably hear horror stories about the tours and how you get scammed. It used to be that way in the past. But there are some very legitimate companies now that have timeshare properties. Marriott is the best. I've taken their tour and they are very friendly and hospitable. My kids had a great time and there was no pressure. They gave us the gift they promised without a fight and overall it was a very pleasant experience.
How it works is you give them 90 minutes of your time and they give you a huge discount on a stay at their resort. Marriott also throws in other little gifts like park tickets or free golf. I've done this with other companies and I ended up in a low quality hotel which was different from what was promised and the tour was brutal. With Marriott I stayed at their top end resort and loved every minute of it. It was definitely worth the 90 minutes and so much more. The staff was very friendly and the quality was top notch.

Timeshare tours are hosted by timeshare resorts.
You can sign up at booths or counters that you see in almost all the restaurants, hotels and flea markets around Orlando/Kissimmee.
When they sign you up, there's a specific time that your reservation is booked. You bring your invitation to the resort, and they will start the tour with you around the resort.
Usually people go to Timeshare tours because you could get free gifts offered by the resort or you can get discount tickets to theme parks and dinner shows.
If you don't have a hectic schedule and you wish to do it, it usually runs about 3 hours.. sometimes more. It all depends on how you work your way around them.
I'm not sure how much discounts you would get on the tickets but it all depends on you. If you think it's worth it, then it's up to you.

Usually you get a stay in a specific location and pay a discounted price, just for attending their 90 minute presentation. Also they usually give you a gift for attending which could be another stay somewhere else. I think its worth it because it helps you travel for a very cheap price, what's an hour and a half out of a 5 day stay, not much. The prices are very good and can be either per stay or per person. Some offers I have received were 3d/2n in Orlando or Vegas for $189 and some incl park or restaurant tickets, 5d/4n St. Kitts for $399, Waikiki for 6d/5n for $499. Most of the major hotel chains have vacation resort properties, you can sign up on their site to be alerted to great deals.

Eh, I don't think so, unless you are interested in that resort or timeshare. I know at MGM they give tours of Sarasota Springs every 20 minutes, but all you really get is a tour of the resort, which could be fun, but if you paid to be in the park, you kind of miss out on the park.

eh i wouldn't go for it. we were going to buy one, but then if you think about it, it's really not a good deal. a few yrs ago when we were thinking about getting it, they were telling us all about how when you're done using the room you have to pay around $300 to get it cleaned up and you have to stay in a specific hotel. it may have changed since the last time i looked into it, but i don't know, i wouldn't go for it.

if you still have your college ids and look young enough then i would tell them you are full-time students and they won't even try selling you any time shares just give you your hotel package and then your off. it worked for us it took about 5 min. to fill out papers and decide what passes we wanted and make a copy of our ids, then that was all .
