I am not convinced that would be a good defense.

You need to approach this in a logical manner.
This is football season.
And in football, the best defense is a good offense.
And the best offenses are coached by highly skilled football coaches.
And highly skilled football coaches are very busy this time of the year.
So you are out of luck finding a good football coach.
Just plead guilty and throw yourself on the mercy of the court.

But good luck!

That would depend on what he was doing to merit being killed.
But remember that the person who has himself for a lawyer, has a fool for a client.
I was on jury duty once, in a trial that the defendant represented himself. He's probably just now getting out 18 years later. Of course his entire defense relied on his statement that the police said the rape/attempted murder occurred on the 15th, while he said it was the 17th. Not once did he deny committing the crime, he wanted it thrown out on a technicality.
The only reason it took us three hours to come back with a guilty plea was so that they would buy us lunch. And what a good lunch it was. No really it was a good lunch. The only redeeming quality of three boring days stuck in a room with living pond scum.

Actually it's a really bad defense in Texas. Harris county has the highest death row convictions in the country. Get a lawyer.

Not in so many words but you could try for justifiable homicide. Or plea bargain it down to manslaughter, probably get you 7 to 9,do half. If the victim is an adult male, life is cheap in these United States.

Tell the jury that you're a master escape artist, and that a guilty verdict will mean 12 more murders.

If it's backed with color pictures, video tapes and affadavits from four people in high places, it should be a credible defense. (You should have thought of those things first, huh?)

I swear.. any female would probably get off murder charges if she claimed the other person pissed them off during "that time".
