one of the workaround for this problem is:
enable 'guest' account for each pc.
log in as administrator or account with administrator privilege,
and then right click at my computer>manage>computer management>local users and groups>users
Then, double click 'Guest' and clear the 'Account is disabled' checkbox. If you want to set sharing password, just right click at 'Guest' and set password that you want.
I hope you are using Windows XP professional because Home Edition doesn't have 'local users and groups' option.
Hope that will help you out :)

Try accessing the computer by clicking on the Start menu, selecting run, and typing \\ followed by the IP address of the computer (such as \\198.162.0.105). Usually that will allow you to access the computer. Often if you can get into it once, after that it works just fine.

You can also do the opposite, and have the non-working PC connect to one of the others by its IP address. Again, usually if you get to it once, it works fine after that.

(Let me guess, not all 5 of the PCs are running the same version of Windows)

you're probable no longer utilizing a protocol that enables such issues precise now. in case you're computers are networked utilizing purely TCP/IP you will ought to enable using NetBIOS over TCP/IP on the two machines. wish this permits!
