well I mean in general.

Me I think it's the southern accent it get's to drive me crazy, but it's funny to me sometimes..

I mean what is Mondey, Tuesdey, potata, tornada, ect... stuff like that. I've always wanted to ask a person what that is, it's funny.

Cause I know what Monday is, Tuesday... ect but not that.

I'm not being mean, it's just that if we speak English we should all speak the same (well at least here)

This question could cause a really heated debate. everyone has an accent, no matter WHERE you are from.
And don't say you don't have an accent because If I listen to you talking , you DO have an accent, because I do too. Everyone tells me" Oh I love your accent" Or " You have a lovely accent"
I'm English/Canadian have lived more of my life over this side of the Atlantic in Canada and the USA.
So when people say things like "where's your accent from". I usually say"Mid Atlantic" just for fun. Who knows how I learned to talk the way I do, it just happened. I don't talk a certain way on purpose... like the rest of the people in the world, UNLESS you deliberately cultivate a certain accent.

Oh of course everyone picks on the Southern accent because there's a stereotype that Southerners are ignorant.

I love to hear a Southern accent because, to me, it means that I am more likely to encounter a friendly, hospitable person.

I personally have trouble understanding people from the Boston area. But that just means I have to try harder to understand. Not make fun of them.

As an Englishman, I always find the broad New York accent funny (in a nice way, of course, which is what you meant). I could listen to it all day.

Oh, and the Chicago accent.

I find Southern accents pretty funny, but I'm from Iowa and have that flat Midwest "twang" so I imagine other people might find me funny.

Oh I see, now we're making fun of people who speak differently than us. Gee, how grown up we are. No, we're not being mean, we're just having "fun". Yeah, right.

Oh and where does it say we all have to speak the same? What happened to individualism, and while we're at it, what happened to TOLERANCE?

I am intrigued by the differences of speech, Souther idioms and phrases, but I would never laugh at them. I'm amazed to learn that there are 5 different dialects in New York City ALONE, not to mention the areas of New Jersey, Boston and New England.

Did you know that dialect experts say that there is only ONE area of the US that does NOT have it's own dialect? Colorado. Odd, isn't it? Funny? No. Odd and intriguing? Yes.

I really don't find any "funny," just interesting. But I DO laugh at my own accent. See if you can tell what it is:

Canadian accents are hilarious to me. Everything ends in "eh?" Example, "How's it going, eh?". I laugh at the slang that they have too.
