Your employer is not required to pay you for federal holidays. Some employers do choose to pay, and this would be disclosed when you begin the job. A federal holiday means the federal offices are closed. That's it.

You are not required to get paid for Federal holidays. You should get paid if you are full time and work at least 40 hours a week. There must be a reason that they do not pay them.

Paid holidays are a benefit, not an entitlement. Most employers offer paid holidays, but not all.

It is not illegal.

Holiday pay is a benefit. You should have been told what the benefits were when hired.
