I ALMOST always pick a best answer. The only time I don't is when stupid little teenagers give my Q retarded answers like "I don't know!" Or when people just seem to refuse to read what you've asked and give an answer that makes them look like they need to repeat highschool. For ex: Q:"I used a permanent dye and it's still washing out after 4 weeks..." A: "Use a permanent dye."
ARG! C'mon people! Get your head out of your ***!
However, I've been in the same boat as your friend and I also agree unresolved Q's with perfectly good A's is very aggravating!

I feel the same way.
I hate when people don't bother to pick a best answer. I feel like I've wasted my time.
I always pick a best answer. I just think people on here are biased and only want someone to agree with what they think. And If nobody does, no best answer. They also seem to be the people that post the same question like 100 times.
But anyways, yeah. It should be their obligation to pick the best answer

I know what your friend is going through. It drives me crazy when my answers go into voting. I spend alot of time and energy answering these questions. It makes you wonder if the question was a real question or just an attention getter? Know what I mean?
