Life is WAY too complex to ever "figure out".
I don't think God really makes things happen to us, I think he created us and the rest is up to us and fate.
I think most people who have a lot of problems in their adult lives are usually responsible for putting themselves in situations that create those problems. Some people are more fortunate to have been born into a good family who raises them to have good values and be responsible, some people are less fortunate to be born into abusive, dysfunctional or neglectful families. This is fate, but I don't think life is just a puppet show with God controlling every act and every scene.

Have you ever tried to find out how something like a radio worked, and taken it apart to examine all the components close up, and then try to put it back together again to enjoy it? More often than not, it won't work the same way (if at all) once you try to crack it open and look at all its parts. Same with life. That's why I don't analyze too much.
As for God, I believe He blessed us all once by enablling human life on planet Earth, and then stepped back and let us all just figure it out for ourselves, like a good father should do.

Truth? One day I will be that person you mention who doesn't need to work very hard and I'll get whatever done... the next I'm the super sensitive one hiding out in corners, hoping to remain unseen.
So from my experience, I'd have to say that God works it all out in his own way and time, and we'll never know the way he thinks. He even said so in the Bible, which I thought I could quote from memory but can't...essentially it says--ah, yes..."My thoughts are not your thoughts." That was it. Can't do chapter and verse anymore though, but it's there. KJV Bible.
So we cannot figure out life, not the workings nor the whys. No problem, we just live it out. 'Sokay. ;-}

Some people let things roll off their shoulder and move on better than some. Often it is the person who hold themself back by not keeping open minded and dwelling on the here and now too much, and failing to put it against the "How much will this matter to me in ten years?"

I don't think God blesses some more than others... I think we all come to Earth to learn certain lessons, different for each of us. We are all here to learn love and some get it, thru free will, and some don't. Sometimes it's painful to learn whatever we are here to learn... my husband died quickly (within 8 months) of pancreatic cancer. He had always been distant , unavailible with his time (always working, at work and on our property) however, when he took ill and got a death diagnosis, he spent much more time with family, taking us on a couple of nice trips, to build memories and to spend really happy loving time together. For the first time in our 25 yr realtionship I really saw him embrace life, embrace love, let us love him, and I am certain that he would have never felt the depth of love and compassion from both family and co-workers without this devistating illness.
I think this applies to all that happens to us.. sometimes things happen because of free will of us or others. sometimes 'things' or situations just get dropped in our laps. I've started using the power of positive thinking, and describe in my mind (or on paper) what I want to come into my life. I turn negative thoughts into positive thoughts and my life is rebounding, (I got and beat cancer, I prayed for someone to love who would love me unconditionally, with other things I wanted,,,, prayed/meditated / thought about these things daily. now I have a totally fabulous man in my life. ALL the things I prayed for. I focused on financial security for me and my children, and got specific, and poof! something unknown happened to make that happen. So it's a combination of learning lessons and the power of positive thinking, affirmations (I learned about this from www.oprah.com
nice question.

I think life isn't about what's fair and what works out. Life is a school. It's something for us all to go through and learn from. It helps our souls develop into something greater. From life we can evolve and our spirits can grow.

yes i have, you see, it's like this.
life sucks, then you get cancer, go through all kinds of treatments and pain and suffering, but you finally beat it. Then one day, you step of a street corner, get hit by a bus, and maybe.... just maybe you die.
why?
Because theres a big invisible man who lives in the sky, who has a place full of fire and demons waiting for you if you're bad.... but he loves you!

There is no god, life is about whatever u put into it. There is no meaning or purpose to it and no divine being watching out over us.
