when priming a newly textured wall and ceiling ,how important isd it to cut i and get real close to edges and corners? i am rolling wall and was trying to save time

You should cut in. The primer is sealling the surfaces. If you don't, you may find your self cutting in with paint an extra time or two to get a consistant look with the rest of the walls.

All valid answers so far, especially the one that states you may find yourself rolling more than neccesary without a primer. The answer equates to "Doing right/avoid doing over"

After multiple thousands of gallons of paint and only using Primer (an extra step) when absolutely neccesary; I CUT everywhere that has a ceiling or cove base; or door/window molding, always.

No offense but I stopped doing texture years ago; other than to possibly patch knock down. Texture is another step I find that eventually adds work, and issues with keeping clean.

If you need to prime, then you need to prime everything. The need is based on providing a seal to the surface below the primer and preparation for the final coat. It is not based on convenience or time restraints. Any painting project (or anything else for that matter) is only as good as the weakest link. Poor preparation will result in a poor outcome.
