Has anyone noticed that the clutch is very tight? I drove a mazda manual and the clutch was much easier to deal with. When I hand the keys to a valet or car wash guy, often they stall it.

the clutch on that car is a hydraulic clutch that works off of a clutch master cylinder on the pedal end and clutch slave cylinder on the working end. The clutch is self-adjusting as the fluid from the master cylinder takes up the slack caused by clutch wear (similar to a disc brake system on your car). As such, there is no adjustment to be made on the clutch to alter the engagement point.

the feel of the clutch should be smooth and free (not binding). The torque of the V-6 on the clutch disc when the clutch is engaged is pretty strong.

My guess is that the valets and car wash guys rarely drive manual transmissions. My feeling is that the stalling is caused by their inexperience rather than a problem with the car.

hope that answers your question.

could be. if you have ever known someone that has a performance car, the aftermarket clutches that can handle more power, centerforce, etc., are all tighter. the tighter, the more power they can handle..it seems.
