Be honest please! We love the name Elijah Carter but wanted something a little more different then I was given the suggestion of Alijah as opposed to Elijah and fell in love with it...now I'm curious as to what other's thoughts are. Thank you so much!

I LOVE it! The spelling with the "A" and the whole name in general! Very strong name yet completely uncommon! Definitely stick with that :)

My first thought was that you'd accidentally misspelled Elijah in the question, but after reading the entire post, I'm really lost as to exactly HOW changing the E to an A makes this "a little more different." It's still Elijah. The poor child will just appear illiterate and be forced to constantly correct people on the spelling of his name. And you're choosing to do that to him purposefully?

If you'd like something different, actually use something different. Here are some similar, traditionally-spelled Biblical names that are not nearly as popular:

Abijah
Abiah
Adonijah
Arieh
Azariah
Azaziah
Eliezer
Elihu
Elisha
Elkanah
Ezra

I prefer Elijah Carter (love the Carter part)

If the name is Alijah people will misspell it for his entire life. Don't do that to him.

If you name him Alijah he might be called Al, or Ali which is ok if you don't mind. I like Elijah better personally though. Plus most people know how to spell Elijah, and he'll have to correct people all the time how to spell his name.

I love Elijah Carter. I would spell it correctly though. It is still pronounced the same way no matter how you spell it so it will just cause your son problems and make you seem like you can't spell. It doesn't make a name more unique to spell it wrong. If you want a unique name why not look for a more unique name. Maybe Ezekiel or Zebedee or Isaiah? Or maybe Ezra or Asa or Eli?

Spelling it wrong does not make it different. It is still the same name only misspelled.

That being said, Elijah Carter is a nice name.

Depends on your surname. I like Elijah better, but I do like the 2 names together.
