my new IBM 15 .4 " laptop has windows prof x/p. I got it 3 days ago. It works great most of the time and i must have restarted it about 15 times in the last 3 days - but it frooze once and twice when i started it the icons did not come on the screen for a long time and I had to repower it each time
ran PC doctor & it passed all the tests. The IBM tech reps i spoke with don't have a clue.
.......could this be an indication of a major problem and should i return the machine ( i have 21 days to return ) OR should i try some fixes that you recommend
many thanks

It could be a major problem or just a bad install of Windows. But either way return it with in the 21 days and get a new one so you are not stuck with a lemon because even the best manufacturers can make mistakes.

Three days ago??? Think about what you've installed since then or what changes you've made, and undo that, and if none of that works, then return the booger. Three days? I'd be utterly surprised if IBM didn't take it back. (Actually, I'm utterly shocked that an IBM would mess up...I've had nothing but the best experience.)

So, real quick, try undoing, and if that doesn't work quickly, then return. Like REAL QUICK. But that's no reason to buy a different brand...just get a replacement.

IBM makes a good machine, and if it's something YOU'VE DONE then think about it and find out why. (Like, "Doctor, Doctor it hurts when I do that!" "Well, don't do that!")

I would return if you have the option. If it starts out slow, it's only going to get slower.
