....and then claim he is totally responsible?
-
Use of force resolution
Patriot act
Military funding
Wire taps
No Child Left Behind (Kennedy's plan actually, but still all Bush's fault)
Tax cuts

They make a lot of noise, then go along, then claim Bush is totally responsible. Isn't it just chicken poo? When the wind shifts and they claim they've been going that direction all along, do they realize we have them on tape blowing the other direction too?

They've only been in control for eight months...most of the things you listed were passed by the Republican Congress.

One of the problems is the importance of money in politics. Whoever spends the most money wins the election about 95% of the time. Consequently, congressmen and senators have to collect several thousand dollars every day they are in office! This is much more important to them than actually doing their jobs.

Since both parties get their money from the same sources, it's silly to expect them to really have different agendas. They are both trying to please the same constituencies, mostly big corporations.

This is why the Democrats are not really -liberal-. They are somewhat to the left of the Republicans, but still much more conservative than their traditional base.

The Repubs have the Dems over a barrel. It's very hard to get out of a war once we're in it, and all they can really do is to stop funding. If they do that the Bush admin. will make them look 'unpatriotic', as if they're abandoning the troops. If they make Bush stop torturing, or illegal wiretapping, or any of that stuff, it looks like they don't care about terrorism or crime. The Repubs have been beating up the Dems for -decades- over being soft on crime, soft on terrorism, soft on Communism, etc. etc.

So I think the Democrats in Congress are just 'playing it safe'. I think their strategy is to let Bush have whatever he wants, then blame the failure on him.

If I was Nancy Pelosi I'd take a much more aggressive tack. But she might know something I don't. This is just how she and the party leaders have decided to play it.

I think there are a lot of spineless Democrats in both Houses of Congress. Anytime they try to withhold funds, or put deadlines on staying in Iraq, Bush vetoes it, and the Democrats know they do not have the votes override Bush's veto. Then Bush starts his right wing spin, that congress is withholding money for the troops. The Democrats do not want to appear to be Anti-Military, so they give him what he wants.

I think in 2008 voters will vote out those Democrats who supported the war, and those who did not have the courage to stand against Bush. Now is the time that we start holding our elected officials accountable. Voting them out of congress is the only message they will understand.

Do you know how many Republicans there are in the Senate? Both houses have to agree on a bill before it goes up to the President for signature. Since there are enough Republicans in the Senate to stop or modify any bill it is unlikely they will get what they truly want. They have to compromise. After the 2008 election that won't be a problem for the Democrats because they will not only have a much greater majority in both houses of Congress but a Democrat in the White House too.

One of the two:
Maybe the Dems have a heart after all and know they're going along because all you mention is right for America,
or
They just don't realize that Bush is so much smarter then them
I tend to think it's the later

Because theyre spineless cowards that need to be impeached along with Bush and Cheney.

Cant we just fire all the elected officials and get new ones that are held accountable to the people rather than Big Business?

Because both sides of the fence stinks, that's politics where people have their own agenda to worry about and not the people.

I wonder if special interest and lobbyist ever gave money so that the common people could have more.

How long will it take for people to see that they are all the same, R's and D's, doesn't matter, we need a new party of common sense and accountablility that would actually have a chance at office, too bad it can't happen.

The GOP has Democrats scared that they will be viewed as 'weak on defense'. So they do nothing.

Their inaction against the bumbling and corrupt executive branch makes them seem 'weak on everything', though.

Ironic.

huh?

The patriot act (and wire taps) was NOT approved by the Dems... when it was passed through congress there was still a majority of Repubs...

can you post a list of these Dems that voted for these things? and then the list of Repubs that did?

You need to check your facts.
