well today's world a laptop and a desktop are almost the same price.

here are a few things to consider when buying laptop vs. desktop.

1. mobility. do you plan to keep it in one place and never move it or do you plan to bring it to places or do you move around alot (college) .

2. upgradeable. laptops are what it is if you want to upgrade them it's very limited mostly ram and hard drive only.
desktops you can change alot more like pretty much everything. but most people buy what they like and keep it for a few years before changing to a new one.

3. power. laptops vs. desktop. For a laptop to have a very good power horse like some desktops your looking at about 2x the price of what it would cost you in a desktop. but if your just checking e-mail and surfing the web I say a laptop is the best thing. But if your a gamer and love to play high end games go with a desktop because there is a 20% performance difference between a laptop and a desktop with the same specs.

It really depends on what you want to do.

Desktops have more CPU power., even for the same CPU speed.

They have faster, bigger and better hard drives.

You can get as big a screen as you want.

Way more expandable, support for multiple CDs and multiple hard drives, add on high power graphics cards, etc.

They keyboards are better (Although Lenovo laptops have better keyboards than some desktops!).

Desktops are cheaper than laptops, including the price of the screen.

In terms of computing power and ability desktops win hands down.

This all become totally moot the second you want to take you computer to class/on holiday/to the coffee shop.

Laptops (in general) have one purpose, to provide mobile computing and no desktop will ever do that.

I have both and I love my laptop more. With a desktop you hook it up and have to use it there. With my laptop I can take it anywhere in my house and get on the internet (wireless card) and don't have to stay just in the computer room like I do with my desktop.

Desktop, because a laptop can get bogged down by history, games, viruses and stuff like that much simpler than a desktop. A laptop also has to connect and use a desktops internet connection, meaning it will be slower.

I prefer desktop because they have a wider range screen up close to your face and you can relax your hand by the keyboard and you get to sit in a nice comfy chair and you have printer and scanner near by. It's much better but I would use a laptop as well if I had business that required me too.

Laptops are portable but easily stolen. Also if something in it breaks the whole thing is out of commission until it gets fixed. Desktops are easier to fix and replace individual parts but they are stationary. They are also usually more powerful than laptops and better for things like games and video processing.

I was in the same dilemma (spell check)!! My friend and I went through all the specs of each and it depends on what you will be using it for. Laptops don't carry a lot of memory so if you are going to download music or upload your photos and use alot of storage. I'd go with a desktop.

Laptops aren't as good as they are made up to be. They have short battery life ( 2 to 4 hours ). Which isn't much when you are at school or traveling. And they get noisy as they get old.
If you are just gonna use it for home stuff mostly. go for the PC. cuz you can upgrade the pc's memory, video card etc... .. As time goes on.

PC is better than Laptop for most ppl... ..
