No, but seriously, think of it this way: in learning and understanding 'math' - remember the concepts are cumulative and progressive.
Pay attention, practice, and you'll find that generally - concepts build on each other. Get the basics down: and memorize the rules of operation.
By-the-way, be open to what best works for you... you'll find there are various ways to get to the same answer - don't get locked into "others' ways of thinking"
I think that math is often approached in too much of technical manner. This method doesn't work the same for different types of learners. Are you a visual learner, an audible learner, or a tactical learner? Your best results in learning (anything) is recognizing which is which and applying the better practice to match.

It is so easy to become perfect in maths that you should be aware of all the basic rules of maths and your concept should be clear on all of that.Then you have to do much more practice on maths because someone have correctly said that "Practice makes the man perfect" so as a result you will become perfect in maths,and will get good marks.

Your math teacher will love you for having these sentiments.
Do your math homework in a math study lab if there is one.
Do all your homework. Concentrate on what's presented in math class. If the teacher writes something on the board you really need to learn it.
Takes notes in class and as soon as possible after class review and rewrite them. Come to class with good question specifically pertaining to the homework,
Nothing is more important than what is taught in class. I've had teachers that taught the same class. Only my section was on M - W -F the other calss was thues & Thurs and the teachers let me audit the class I wasn't attending.
Also I learned math book book exercises are arranged in order of difficulty. To really understand do more of the advanced problems.

Try looking ahead at some coming up problems in the book. This will maybe help with some problems you are working on now. Then look at the simple problems and the basic breakdown of the problems you found easy earlier in the book. Learn and pratice the basics and the better you know them, the more basic the umthenth level of calicus will be. Remamber how hard first grade math was when you were in first grade.

i disagree with those who answered.
first, to get good marks, means to know and understand math perfectly. while studying , if u go across theories and proofs that u don't understand perfectly and u feel like ( umm ok :/ ), then this means that there is a flaw in ur understanding in that lesson..don't try to convince yourself that ( ummm,,ok,,,fine,,,:/ ) and u carry on will solve the problem.
I'm sorry but to solve this u have to go back to since that problem in studying occurred and study what u have been missing,,,and try to fix the problem from its roots....
then u will c, that while studying u will accept everything written, and u will not nod just to accept and carry on...u will love math, just like i adored it some years ago...

To practice and listen in class are very good advices. However, there is another one that is also very important. Trust yourself. Don't get discouraged because it doesn't work immediately. Never think that you are not good enough. Don't give up too fast on a problem, but attack problems at your level. Discuss with the professor if needed.

i will give you an advice... having bad grades for maths or any department on school is not good. Though this doesn't mean that getting over 90% for a department IS good! if you try too hard to be good at things like Maths you will stick on it and forget about more important things in life like having fun,make friends;spend time with your familly,etc etc...

Hi! Just pay attention in class and dont be afraid to ask questions... If in case you were not able to get the answer or having problems with the solution, dont hesitate to ask your teacher!!! It is also better if you will not miss even a single discussion because Math is like a trail in the mountain... lol...
seriously, if you miss one class, you will have a hard time catching up... one more thing, try to solve as many problems as you can!!!

if you really want good grades, pay attention in class. take down notes of what the teacher writes and says in class. try not to miss anything. if you don't understand it, ask the teacher to repeat it. but make sure he/she doesn't repeat it more than three times to the class.
if you seam to understand it in class, but go blank when you go home to do homework, you're not alone. i was the same way. keep solving the questions from class over and over, until you get it correct and are able to dive right into the question with out a thought. try to apply what you did in class to your homework and re-do the questions until you know it in a snap.
and let your teacher know you are having trouble understanding. they should help you after school or tell you to see a tutor from school. make friends with your class mates and try to meet up so they can help you.
and no cheating.
