Could it be that he's actually going to bring a POSITIVE report from Iraq? Could it be that the dems are afraid of hearing GOOD news from the ground forces? Could it be that with the general's report, the American people will FINALLY see their smoke and mirrors game for what it REALLY is?

Hah! Is it just me, or are all the liberals answering this angry because their rhetoric is being disproven yet AGAIN? Wake up! When liberal writers, news media (CBS, Katie Courick), and even some democrat POLITICIANS admit the surge is working, can't you accept that there might be some TRUTH to it? Or will you just keep on saying that the general is lying because you can't admit that maybe Bush did something RIGHT?

Because our troops are doing a great job and could be ready to begin to downsize in Iraq within the next year or so... according to some early quotes by General Petraeus.. Instead of making him a hero, they will label him a liar..

Could it be that the credibility of the report was thrown into question when the White House proposed limiting Patraeus' appearance before Congress to a private briefing even though the war-funding legislation that Bush signed in May stipulated a public congressional testimony?

Could it be the objectivity of the report was further called into question when it was reported that the document would not be written by the Army general but instead would come from the White House, with input from Petraeus, Crocker and other administration officials?

Could it be due to the same concerns that prompted some officials to 'leak' details of the GAO report? On the "smoke and mirrors" game we do agree, although we may not see eye-to-eye on who's holding the mirrors and blowing the smoke.

Then there's this news item today suggesting that "war math" is very tricky and ambiguous:
Experts Doubt Drop In Violence in Iraq
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/09/05/AR2007090502466.html
"...according to one senior intelligence official in Washington. "If a bullet went through the back of the head, it's sectarian," the official said. "If it went through the front, it's criminal."

General Petraeus report means nothing to the President. Bush has already made his decisions. None of it based on the good General's report. The smoke and mirrors you speak of belong to the Bush adminstration. There will be NO troop reduction and we are centre stage in the Middle East. Iraq will become an annexation of the US. This was the plan all along. Nothing to do with terrorism, a little to do with oil. More to do with a large presence in the Middle East.
Waiting for the report was a stall tactic. Nothing more.

Petraeus became a "Bush lackey" the second he allowed the White House to write his report that he is going to present to Congress.

Petraeus should have resigned rather than allow Bush & Co. to cherry pick his findings for which they will highlight the positives while completely ignoring the negatives.

EXACTLY! Good news that even some of the dems have to admit is obvious, so now Gen. Patreus's credibility must be destroyed at all cost!

Go along with everything Bush wants and then claim he is solely responsible.

The Democrats and the media are PATRIOTS! ( they are invested in the defeat of the U.S., they actively seek to undermine a U.S. victory,) How dare you accuse them of playing politics with national security, how dare you question their patriotism?
