Only if she's born one.

Another possibility would be to take over a country, but then why just be a princess when you can be crowned queen?

If a female is already born into the royal family, she is a princess. Any woman who doesn't belong to the royal family but marries a prince technically becomes a princess by marriage.

Theoretically. There have been a few instances of royalty being elected. Likewise, there are a couple monarchies where adoption makes a person a member of the royal family.

Admit it--you've been watching the "American Princess" "reality" (to use the adjective very loosely) television series? No one can earn a royal title, it is either bestowed by birth or marriage.

If the parent(s) are a prince or princess they can be a princess. But if the Princess mother marries one of lower rank, then her children are of the lower rank of the male parent.

Not unless they married someone who is a royal. I think that a non royal can get knighted by the queen by that connection.

Well you can be born into it or in Fredrick Von Halt's case you can be adopted even as an adult by a royal, lol.

Possibly there's titles being sold and those are fake, you might as well win in a beauty pageant and get a crown.

Yes she can be born one. That's one way. You can declare yourself a sovereign nation and susceed from your own government and become queen of your own realm. There are hundreds who have done this ranging in size from a farm (Hutt River in Australia) to just your own house and land, your daughter would then be a princess. Google it if you're interested.
