I just noticed the new 'Report It'. This is completely absurd and senseless. It's not like there aren't trolls, clones and people who attempt to take away our freedom speech as it is. Now this? This does nothing more than add encouragement to a problem that's gotten out of hand already.
Has Y!A lost it's mind?

I wish Yahoo! who would actually look into these reports before pulling something and issuing a violation. Some things clearly violate the guidelines and should be pulled. Basically, I'm talking about profanity. Other times people report things just because they disagree with them. If Yahoo! would actually look at these reports before they violated the person reported, things would work a lot better. I think Yahoo! should violate the person who sends in a frivolous report. Any more, unless it is someting so vulgar I wouldn't want my kids to read, I don't report offensive messages. I do a lot of posting on the political section. I like to leave some messages just to show how ignorant and insulting some people are.

Did you see this, apparently the program is now going to look at your history of reports as well as the history of the person reporting. I guess that is an improvement to some extent.
We believe the solution to these problems lies within the community itself. Our community needs to be empowered to help clean up Answers. Let’s face it, if anyone knows what is needed to keep Answers healthy and abuse-free, it’s the people who live and breathe it every day.
That’s why today is such a big day. We are launching the Beta version of a new system that allows the community to moderate Answers. Here is how it works:
Click on the Report It button when you see a question or answer that violates the new Community Guidelines.
Once you submit your report, a new behind-the-scenes process begins. This system automatically measures the contributions and reporting history of both the reporter and the person being reported.
The new system then determines whether it can remove the reported question or answer directly from the site based on community input or whether further review is needed.
Since this is a Beta, Yahoo! Customer Care will continue to assist in reviewing reported questions and answers. They will also continue to address appeals to violations.

The whole thing has just turned into a "report it" fest. When people are so screwed up that they go through my Q&A up to a year ago just to find something that they can get deleted, well that is messed up.
I still like to come here, but am spending most of my time elsewhere, where at least you can have a debate without someone reporting you in order to silence you.
It would be nice if Yahoos advertisers knew how screwed up Answers has become, because Yahoo is doing nothing to fix it, and in fact it seems that the Yahoo Answers people have gone out of their way to make it worse.

e) "But it is impossible to ignore the fact that the United States is becoming an ideological state. The ideology of Political Correctness, which openly calls for the destruction of our traditional culture, has so gripped the body politic, has so gripped our institutions, that it is even affecting the Church. It has completely taken over the academic community. It is now pervasive in the entertainment industry, and it threatens to control literally every aspect of our lives. Those who came up with Political Correctness, which we more accurately call 'Cultural Marxism,' did so in a deliberate fashion. I'm not going to go into the whole history of the Frankfurt School and Herbert Marcuse and the other people responsible for this. Suffice it to say that the United States is very close to becoming a state totally dominated by an alien ideology, an ideology bitterly hostile to Western culture. Even now, for the first time in their lives, people have to be afraid of what they say. This has never been true in the history of our country. Yet today, if you say the 'wrong thing,' you suddenly have legal problems, political problems, you might even lose your job or be expelled from college. Certain topics are forbidden. You can't approach the truth about a lot of different subjects. If you do, you are immediately branded as 'racist,' 'sexist,' 'homophobic,' 'insensitive,' or 'judgmental.'" Paul Weyrich, February 16, 1999 personal letter.

I AGREE!! Someone pushed that stupid flag and violated me. I've gone through their Community Guidelines and have found absolutely no reason for a violation, yet the serious smut people and HATERS run rampant through Answers.
Why isn't Yahoo chasing after these nasty people and leaving the innocent alone?? Oops, Just My Opinion!!!

It is getting crazy.
Everything you do is against the guidelines. Someone asks what you are doing today, you say nothing, guess what you have a violation because according to yahoo you didn't really answer the question.
