My boyfriends son wears a size 16/18 in boys jeans and shirts...what size would that be in mens pants and shirts????

Men's pants have 2 numbers, the waist size and the inseam. You need to get his measurements. Shirts are generally the neck measurement, unless they are just labled S, M, L, or XL.
Women's clothes used to be measured this way, but women didn't want to admit their size, so it was changed to the hodgepodge mess we have today.

Well, I'm a size 16 in boys jeans and I just bought men's shorts that were a size 30, but I have a pair of jeans that are a size 28.

depends on the store you are going to all shops have different sizes even when it shte same age group. Go to the store and ask them
