I sold this toy yesterday to this couple. The toy was new and in the box, but I advertised it and said I OPENED THE BOX but NEVER ASSEMBLED THE TOY and put the toy BACK IN THE BOX. So the toy is there, in the box, the box is opened on one side.
This lady emailed me about 100000x asking questions and I answered all of them completely honestly. Finally she said she was sending her husband to come pick it up. She changed the pick up time on me about 5 times. He finally came and got the toy.

Not an hour later, I had a message on my cell and two on my house phone from them. I'm not calling them back. I emailed them.

They told me that I falsely advertised a new toy and they want their money back. They're kidding, right??? The fact that they have a LISTENING issue is not my problem. I told them to go to walmart and exchange it to get a new one, because thats how I bought the toy there.

Is there anything that obligates me to refund their money? They got a new $25 for $10. Its EXACTLY how I said it was and its the POINT of it all...I really DON'T want to give them back their money after all this, but I don't want to get in trouble either. Any suggestions?

Do not refund their money, they picked up in person?? Buyer beware. I don't think they'll sue for $10. Good luck.

You are not obligated to refund their money. Did you state in your listing anything about a refund? That's why pictures are such a good thing. These people sound like they do this quite often. After all they could have broken the toy. If you gave them the receipt it is acceptable for them to take it back to the merchandiser. My only concern is they know where you live. You might want to Ebay next time. Good Luck!

Craigslist is just a free version of ebay, que no? (Ebay has developed a bad rep in my mind, because of more and more "hucksters"...like a flea market...but that's another issue).

It all boils down to...human relations. ONE person (the seller) has to, at some point, deal with the OTHER (the buyer). Craigslist just provides a place for contacts. Like, I've got something to sell, and I and the buyer have to agree that, either the buyer sends money and TRUSTS that I'll send the goods or, I send the goods and TRUST that the buyer will send the $$$. Who decides? And what afterwards? Did you agree on conditions? It all depends on what YOU TWO agreed on, in advance...if anything.

well if you advertised truthfully and have documented your emails and such, then you don't have an obligation to refund
