Wow. You got Ovechkin AND Jagr? Lucky break.

I'd say you're all set at forward. You can't do much better than that in drafting, unless you're in a league full of idiots. You even have a good bench for them. A lot of leagues have Gomez and Cole STARTING. They may not win you the +/- points, but these guys will keep you competitive everywhere else.

Your defense will be fine, and even great if Niedermayer does play. If not, I doubt it will kill you. Seabrook is hit and miss, but if he misses, you'll find someone decent in free agency. One defenseman makes little difference.

Your obvious weakness is in goal. DiPietro is solid, but he is playing on an inferior team. The Isles did not improve in the offseason, and odds are he'll have a fairly low GAA and few shut outs. He'll play a lot and get some wins, and I suspect his Save % will be decent, but he won't win you a ton of Goalie points. And I have never been sold on Biron. Everyone talks like he's going to be a savior in Philly, but he couldn't even win the starting job in Buffalo BEFORE Miller came along.

Unfortunately, there is not likely anyone better available in free agency. You might consider trying to pull a trade to get someone better, but that is easier said than done. That said, you do have good forward depth, and it might be worth coughing some of it up. Goaltending is almost always essential in winning these things.

All that said, it all depends on the OTHER teams and what THEY have. It is impossible to "rate" a fantasy team at this point, because we don't know what the other teams did. Great goaltending is nice, but it's no good if your forwards suck. So the teams with the better goaltending might not be much better off. It depends. My recommendation is just to keep your eyes open for injuries, watch your team closely throughout the season, and make changes as necessary. Take advantage of the fact that a lot of people will panic when their star player gets off to a slow start, and trade or pick up waiver drops that are favorable. Ultimately, THAT is how you win these leagues.

Good luck!

I have never played roto fantasy hockey before, but I know it is all about points. Your team looks solid, but your goaltending is a little weak. DiPietro is a solid goalie but the team he plays on is not so good. The Islanders let all of their trading deadline moves from last year walk. Biron is playing on a Flyers team that has a lot of issues coming into this year. The Flyers were bad last year, but they do have a good bit of young talent which should help them turn it around this year.

Jagr is considered one of the best RW's in the game. He looks like he is starting to show his age a little bit now though. Sullivan had back issues all last year, and is still having health issues this offseason so you may want to look for a healthier RW option than him. Ovechkin had a great sophomore season last year, and if he were playing on a better team then he would of put up even better numbers. Brunette is ok, but again this position could be upgraded. Sakic is the ageless wonder and should continue to put monster numbers in Colorado. Savard may be one of the most underrated centers in the game, he had a great year last year on a crappy team.

Your defense looks solid but much of your points are going to rely on whether Niedermayer comes back and plays this year. Rafalski should put up big numbers in Detroit this year because of all the talent they have. After that though you need to worry because you don't have much depth their. Your bench is solid. Gomez, Cole, and Vyborny are all solid, and will be worth starting sometimes depending on the matchup. I can see you making the playoffs with this team as long as Niedermayer comes back and Biron plays well. I will give you a 8/10, just a couple of question marks here and there that keep this from being a great team.
