(x -10) (x + 8) =0?
(x -10) =0 ->
x=10
(x + 8) =0->
or x=-8
(10,-8)
To verify plug in one of the solutions at the time and see if they are true.
(10 -10) (x + 8) =0 ->
0 * (10+8) = 0 one correct solution
(-8 -10) (-8 + 8) =0 ->
(-8-10) * 0 = 0 2nd correct solution

set each factor equal to zero (i.e x - 10 = 0 & x + 8 = 0), then solve for x in each one which leads you to the final solution of 10 & -8

x can equal 10 or -8, because that would make one of them 0, and multiplying anything by 0 gives you 0

(x -10) (x + 8) =0?
x=10 or x= -8
(just examine each term independantly ie

i.(x-10)(x+8)=0
ii. x2 - 10x + 8x - 80 = 0 [FOIL method]
iii. x2 - 2x - 80 = 0
iv. (x - 10)(x + 8) = 0
v. x - 10 = 0 ; x + 8 = 0
vi. x = 10 ; x = -8
SS: {10,-8}
Or just simply do iv, v then vi to get the solution set but that doesn't apply to all.

(x-10)(x+8)=0 so x-10=0 or x+8=0
i) x-10=0 so x=10
ii) x+8=0 so x=-8
so solutions {-8,0}
