I stated a few months ago that we were not leaving Iraq. It's geographical location was too perfect. It has now been revealed we are not and will not leave Iraq. Bush's invasion/occupation purpose was to put us centre stage in the Middle East. This man's deception is unrivaled. Wake up everyone. There are so many layers to this and none of it good.

No kissme that is not what I'm saying. I'm saying that many were played by fear rhetoric. Get past your partisan BS and try to grasp the gravity of the situation.

Mindbender this is a small part of what Bush is up to. I am in total agreement with you.

Rock I'm sorry you are incapable of understanding what is actually happening. More sorry that you lashed out that way to a fellow US citizen.

krupstk. You aren't getting it. It has nothing to do with having bases in Iraq. That is a given. It is about the deception. We aren't there for the reasons Bush sighted. It is part of a much larger plan. Keep watching.

And he's beating the war drums for North Korea and Iran and Syria attacked Israel (which has the U.S.'s unequivocal support) and he's selling us out to Mexico and China and other countries. He's promoting terrorism by refusing to have our immigration laws enforced and he's practicing treason by failing to protect our citizens from all enemies foreign and domestic. He is spying on Citizens and taking away our rights while giving our country to foreign interests. He will not stop until he has started a world war. It's time he was removed from office so the amount of damage he's done can be limited and the healing can begin. Impeach Bush and Cheney!

Well you have to look at our past military engagements to get an idea of how this works.

WWII : We went to war against the Axis powers. We currently have active bases in Germany and Japan.

Korean Conflict: We have major base operations on the 42nd parallel.

What makes you think that when we leave Iraq we would not have a base there? It makes a lot of sense that we would have a base there to protect our interests.

I will be willing to bet that we are out by next summer. People in the know, know this, because we can not continue to occupy an Arab country, we do not have enough troop support with all of our operational commitments, and funding is going to dry up. We will begin withdrawals by spring and should have all major components out by July. Liberals will say this is a flip flop, but it IS the plan, and we will have turned the country over to it's elected government. It will be right on time for the election push, and republicans will claim victory, and democrats will claim failure. Any takers?

Check this out.

You predicted well.

Now, the only way for the US to leave Iraq is for all the neocon chickenhawks to put their flabby posteriors, and those of their children, on the line to further the Bush's agenda.

Here is a prediction of my own: the above, will never happen.

I really doubt we will leave Iraq, I think its almost 99.9% sure not going to happen in the Bush Administration, and the GOP candidates are standing by it way more than I thought they would. I doubt that the main Democratic candidates, despite the rhetoric, would bring everybody home immediately, its going to take years.
