i've just put a new internal hard drive in as the slave, booted up and it recognised it, now it has dissapeare

first how do i format it,because when i go to 'mt computer only 'c' drive is there, thenhow do i assign a letter to it , ie (d) drive

Assuming Win XP
Right click My Computer, select manage
LOCAL DISK MANAGEMENT

locate the disc in lower window, and right click, and create a partition and format it.

job done

Go to the control panel and do "add new hardware". Also, did you rearrange the shunts?
