I know there are a lot of theories about what happened, the links provided thus far are good resources. The only thing really that I would like to point out is that George Bush (I am assuming that you are talking about our current president) was not the president when the attacks were in the planning stage. George Bush could not have been the reason for the attacks as he had just gotten into office when the attacks happened. Something to this scale takes years of planning, especially with the terrorists having to get into the country and take pilot classses. I personally believe that it was the U.S. as a whole and our government that made the terrorists want to attack. It is not only the U.S. that the terrorists are focusing on as well, it is other major countries such as England. They will tend to want to attack anyone who does not agree with their views.

So you need some answers? O.K. Get a copy of the book mentioned below. Read it very carefully. It's only 160 pages long. But, it explains exactly why these Salafist Jihadists want to kill people and bring down governments who they consider to be the "crusader nations". Though it's now in English, the book was written in the 1970s when the author was in prison. The author is one of the co-founders of the Muslim Brotherhood in North Africa. An organization that Al Queda is modeled after.
If you are serious you will try and get a copy of the book and read it. If you aren't, you'll continue to equate the attack on America with President Bush's facial features.

Business as usual was going on in the government.
You'd have to ask the terrorists why they did what they did. Who knows why people do such horrid things. I'm sure they thought they had good reasons.
And who says that George Bush made them do it? It was their choice, influenced by their religious and political leaders.
We, as a country, were too complacent. Thinking that nothing like that could ever happen to us. IMHO, we should be like Israel. If you attack us, we'll scorch earth you and wipe you out.

Are you kidding me?
Well, why don't you read bin Laden's Declaration of War Against the United States. That's a good start. http://www.seprin.com/laden/laden1.html
