I see confederate flags on cars, t-shirts, and other places. If not to support segragation or slavery what is a good reason to still support this emblem in this day and age?

It is not illegal to fly the stars and bars. I don't fly it but if I wanted to no one could stop me.

Symbols mean different things to different people.

If I fly a pirate flag does that mean I want to make someone walk the plank?

What you think is the Confederate Flag is not the Confederate Flag. The Confederates went through about 5 flags, including one that was pure white. The Stars and Bars was on some versions of the flag, but it was never the whole flag.

Symbols mean different things to different people.

I see people with a nazi swastika, or artistic likeness of a communist who caused the deaths of countless people. I ask them why. I don't hear them spouting off how great Hitler was, or communist philosophy. They got it because it looks good, pretty, was low priced. I warn them that they could get seriously beat up by some people because those symbols are enemies of our nation.

I saw some kids with Wicca & Druid symbols hanging up car. I asked them where they bought the witchcraft stuff. They did not know what I was talking about.

People see the symbols, like them, don't know what they signify to others.

The confederate flag means different things to different people. Some display it because they have an interest in what the south stood for other than the reasons they lost the war. Some display it for the same reason other people set the Lord's Symbols on fire, because they know it is hurtful to other people.

Sorry but the Civil War was about states rights, slavery was a part of the states rights issue. I have no problem with the flag as long as I see Mexican, Rainbow andCuban flags being waved in marches. It comes down to free speech. I am no fan of some of the crap that comes from some peoples faces but I respect their right to speak. If your going to sensor one then you must sensor all.

Where is the northern flag? It is the American Flag. Some people have an idealogy towards southern everything.

For historical sake, to remember what happened to the US, for respect for the civil war and the south's role in it. If you are using it as a symbol to represent segregation or slavery, that's wrong.

I would not wear it, but I have no issue with others doing so. You ought to be able to express any views you like, no matter how unpopular or politically incorrect.
