I think it will be the big freeze, and possibly within 50 years or so.

If you buy the premise of a Big Bang, you can easily conclude that the End will be a slow heat death, as every particle flies ever further away from every other particle -- without interaction, there ceases to be reality.

I don't accept that premise. I pigheadedly expect that another turnaround in what counts as orthodox scientific opinion on cosmology is yet to come, and we'll end up with something akin to the old Steady-State theory.

According to that view, associated with the late Fred Hoyle, the answer to the question how will the world end is ... it won't.

I don't know exactly how but I believe it will be caused by the atmosphere created by the collective mentallity of the world, when the amount of people who hate, who hurt and who harm out number the good people, that is when mother earth will turn on us in one way or another, I watched about 5 minutes of the news today and heard about home invasions, I heard that those people in portugal who reported thier daughter missing 4 months ago may be responsible I heard about 2 homeless men who were beat to death. Tell me why the wickid don't f with some able bodied person like me.
F-ckin cowards!

Most likely we'll destroy ourselves, or the sun will die and take us down with it, or an asteroid'll smash into us. I hope it ain't the first one because that's the same as using poison gas in a room that the enemy AND you are trapped in. The gas WILL kill you, even if you are wearing a mask.
Well, all the other ideas aside, for some reason, deep down inside, I think that there's going to be a lot of blue light, but no one's going to be hurt when it's time.

The earth as we know it will be destroyed about about 8 billion years from now when the sun gets so hot it expands and engulf most of the planets. But by then, humans will have moved to other planets in other solar systems and will be in a position to not only survive the event, but record it from a safe distance.

The world will end when the sun dies. The sun is the source that keeps the life cycle turning on our planet. Until then the earth is constantly renewing itself. Humans may make themselves obsolete by overpopulation and expansive greenhouse gases, but the earth will continue to evolve and change until the sun dies and stops giving out heat and light.

The Bible says that no man will know the time or the day.

We also know, biblically, it will not be a flood.

So, given that in the books of revelation, ezekiel, malachi and micah, as well all the gospels talk about it, it is fairly certain that human society will end with social unrest, climatological disasters, war, disease, drought and pestilence. Then Jesus will come to earth, fight the final war against evil (which will be totally one sided) and then establish a 1000 year kingdom on earth with the speaking of The Word.

That depends what you mean by 'the end of the world'. Is it necessary for humans to be destroyed, or the Earth, or the Universe, or everything, or some combination of those?

we know it will end about 2-3 billion years when the sun goes Red Giant and pulls the earth into itself.. It could happen sooner if a big enough asteroid hits earlier.

i think the end of the world is going on right now. if you believe in the bible, all the signs it talks about are happening right now. i think it will take a few hundred more years to all play out. but, i think the ultimate end will come at the hand of man. like the final world war.

The "world" will never end. It will only change. What it will change into is the question. A barren rock, part of the sun, dust, etc.
