I was there in NYC watching it from my window and on the TV simultaneously, still not quite believing what was going on!! It felt like a movie or a dream or something, probably one of the worst moments of my life...
The panic and drama that followed afterwards though was in some ways worse, all the fear and anxiety and worry that it was going to happen again somehow was more stressful. New York became a better and a worse place all at the same time.
Good side was though that I saw so much human compassion on that day and for week and months afterwards...I am not American and get a bit fed up with all the criticism of the US because I found a lot of respect for admiration for how normal everyday Americans behaved during those days (this is a generalization based on what I saw, I know it wasn't all rosy!).
I think however small it changed the lives of everyone that day...

I was at work and had the radio on. I heard about the first plane and thought it must have been a small plane that somehow lost its course. A few minutes later, when the second tower was hit, I knew we were under attack. I immediately called my husband at his job -- we were both freaking out. We live and work about a mile away from MacDill AFB here in Tampa, FL. This base has CentCom and SoCom, so it is a huge target for terrorists, also. (Central Command oversees the operations in the middle east). We were terrified that we'd be next.
Knowing the terror I felt, I cannot imagine the fear of the people actually on the planes or involved in the towers. I can't stand to watch the movies about 9/11, because I am so terrified for the people on the planes and in the towers.

I'm from RI, and I was actually watching the Today Show and seeing it all "Live" transpiring before my very eyes. I could not believe what I was seeing.
My husband was on a job in DC about a mile from the Capitol Building. He heard the plane crash into the Pentagon.
Our family did not lose anyone that day, either, but people in my husband's company did. Because one of the vice presidents of his company was due to be at a meeting in one of the towers, but it was his only son's first day of kindergarten, he sent someone else in his place. The company lost 2 co-workers that day. One of the deceased was related to the president.
My husband is from Poland, and because his parents knew that he was due to be on a business trip in DC, I had to spend a few hours trying to get through to his mother and father there and let them know that he was okay. If you remember, the phone lines were sometimes jammed because of everyone in the country trying to talk at the same time!
This is another something that is just like "where were you when you found out about JFK's assassination?"

I was at work in Charlotte, NC at Bank of America. We heard people who were checking out the news on the internet start talking about what had happened at the World Trade Center and then the Pentagon. Bank officials told everyone in the high rise buildings to leave. I had to show my ID to even get back into my building to get my things. There was a huge "rush hour" jam of traffic trying to get out of the city. My normal 40 minute drive took me 2 hours. I did not lose anyone I loved that day but know 2 people who did.

I was here at work when the tragedy happend. We watched the news all day long in the lounge. And, then my husband and I watched the news that evening. My coworker/friend's birthday is on September 11th and it is always a hard time for her now because of the terrible memories of that day. I did not lose anyone in the tragic event.

I was in the 10th grade of H.S. in Pennsylvania, and I didn't know about it until I got into English class because the teacher had the tv on so we watched it a little bit. I didn't lose any loved one's that day thank god but my cousin worked at the pentagon but thankfully he was not hurt.
I will always remember that day and I will not forget the people that were killed.

I was at home in Nevada. One of my daughters called from Ohio and told me to turn on the TV. I watched for most of the day. Two people I knew were on the plane which hit the Pentagon.

i was a junior in high school and i remember i was getting ready for school and my friend came over like she usually does so she could catch a ride..I remember she was crying, asking me if i had seen what had happened on t.v..I turned it on and i seen police cars everywhere just a disaster, but i had no idea she was talking about the world trade centers, i thought that something had happend in Arizona..
later on at school most of my teachers were crying, talking to us about it...I will never forget that day, the weather was dark and gloomy, and everybody @ my school were very saddened. I did not lose anybody that day, but my prayers and thoughts are with the families that did

besides the shown fact that i replaced into basically approximately 10 years previous on the time and stay in Australia, I needless to say undergo in recommendations turning on the television to computer screen my morning cartoons (you be attentive to, Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z) while as a substitute this pictures of the assaults have been shown. it continued throughout the time of the entire day and all generic shows have been cancelled that day. i did not comprehend why planes could fly right into a construction, exceptionally the twin Towers, yet now I comprehend and that i pray for all the lives that have been lost that day.
