As a Tiger fan I would assume they want Seattle to win the series because with Rogers and Sheffield and Zumaya all back and Rodney pitching like crazy good.
And last years playoffs, if they face each other in the playoffs you know the media will be all over it and that wont help the yankees any.
Plus the last time they faced each other. 16-0 DETROIT! You know that still haunts them.
So I would assume that they want Seattle to win.

I am far from a Yankee fan, but if I were the Yankees I would be rooting for Seattle because the Tigers are much more of a threat to them.

I don't think a team ever wants to battle multiple teams for 1 playoff spot. I am rooting for one team to just demolish the other team. A 3 game sweep can really knock one team out of the wildcard hunt, assuming the Yankees don't lose 2 of 3 to KC.
I think I am more worried about Detroit... so I'll probably root for Seattle to sweep this weekend.

Yankee fans have to root for Seattle this weekend - there is NO way we want to face the Tiger pitching staff again, especially after last year's division series.

Seattle has been so moribund the past two weeks, they don't seem like a threat anymore. Detroit has such good starting pitchers, I'd fear them more capable of putting together a run this month. I'm pulling for Seattle.

i'm not a yankee fan, i'm a detroit fan, but i'd have to say they are rooting for seattle so they don't have to face detroit again, especially after that 16-0 drumming they got thanks to ORDONEZ and the tigers

I actually would want the series to go 2-1. That way even if the Yanks got swept they would still hold the lead by one game no matter who won that series.
