Rena, I pray and ask God for his protection. I bind any evil spirits that are around me to vanish and know in my heart I will be protected.
If I am overwhelmed with stress, I rise above to a higher plain, and I believe you understand where I am coming from. I have practiced this for years, and find it very helpful. I also find meditation helpful in dealing with darkness from life. We all find comfort practicing whatever works for us in various venues.

The how, very much depends on from where and in what way you entered the realm, and why you have done so. You should always protect your self no matter what your reason as it is not the physical but the more so the spiritual essence. Unless protected there could be problems, especially a wasting sickness. There are many techniques for protection and they depend on the technique used to enter. I would suggest looking at, in order of prefrence: estoric traditions of the west, the living kabbala or the Celtic wheel of life

Seems like the things behind the darkness get control when we are emotional. Emotion is the evidence of the lack of faith, doubting that the Light is an everpresent help. The Light comes through when we are calm and centered, even though emotion may be swirling around us. So in the realm of darkness, I find that my strength comes from centering where my mind remains coherent and not taken hostage by fear and doubt.

Great question! In the realm of darkness one should know how to protect oneself. The art of self-defense must always be there especially in the mantle of darkness we live in. We must always remember that in darkness the evil dwells on it. There is no problem in the realm of brightness because there is a house of goodness in it. What do i do to protect myself, i put everything to the Good Lord. He is my shining armour in the darkness. He gives me a laser beam of light to combat darkness. That for me is the best weapon in the real world of darkness.

It is not only the darkness that hides in lure of mischief, it is the daylight that one also must protect themselves from too. For in the light of day are done the most horror of horrors. However, I do protect myself from those that would harm me both physically and mentally. Each day I guard against mental malpractice through acknowledging the goodness of mankind, the spirit of the universe as good and pure. This is as we have been directed....a thing to do moment by moment. (this is not to put blinders on and NOT to recognize that there is evil in the world and those that would do evil to me and mine and yours.....acknowledge and eradicate evil at every thought you can.)
As for physical...a 45 does well.

Since it worked pretty well for bad ole' King David, I'd first cry mercy and then sing praises... the "realm of darkness" doesn't like singing and stuff like that. It worked for David.
I'd center myself too; reach for calm in chaos, quiet in the storm. That can work for me. And some rock and roll...

I've never been afraid of the dark. I know that you mean evil and I am not afraid of evil either. To me, evil isn't dark or light. Its the bad side of people and the way I deal with bad people is not to associate with them. If a bad person does something to me I attack them with the law or what ever is appropriate. As long as we are aware that evil exists in all of us in some measure then we can set aside our fears and deal with life as it comes, with calm serenity.

I don't fear darkness. There really is nothing to fear. What can stand against he who walks with you. I am my own worst enemy , as long as I lead an examined life I will always be OK. Once someone told me that if demons made you run for home, then you entertain angels unaware.

I remember that the only distance between myself and the light of love is the distance I create myself. I reach out and I am found; never apart and never alone.

i build all my inner reserves from the pit of my being, up to high levels to cloak myself with positive images and memories and experiences. which i have achieved in my live.i use it like a barrier against all forms of darkness with which i may face.enforcing my bond with God in the process. which then the force field is intensified.
