For me to enter the building where I work, located on Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, I have to swipe my ID card by the checkpoint at the Security Desk, then my photo will be displayed on the computer monitor to verify who I really am. Since after the September 11, 2001 terrorists attacks, security has been heightened at most government and private buildings.
