Jobs are cut when management needs fo some reason to reduce the size of its labor force.
In this case it was probably due to the eduction of people working in mortgage company's. You may have heard that there were more layoffs due to the fact that many people have had difficulty in paying their mortgages. These generally were mortgages with small down payments given to people who had higher risks. Banks and mortgage companies have therefore reduced the number of new mortgages that they are writing and need fewer employees in that department. You should couple that with reduced sales of both resales and new mortgages which also leads to a reduced staff.

This is preliminary figures ( I mean it's only Sept 7th). They'll be adjusted to actual numbers in a couple of months after all the reports are in.

Read the article. FIRST DECLINE IN 4 YEARS. And this was for only one month. But personal incomes are at an all time high. $17.00+. That is insanely high. Unemployment is at 4.6%. Lowest ever.
Yep, sounds like the liberal media running a smear campaign again.

OMG, "The first drop in four years".
In a country that has 300 million people in it. God we are going into a depression. I think I'll jump off the WTC and kill myself...Oh wait, OBL had planes to fly into those. Shucky darn, guess I'll have to go on living.

Layoff are up too. And its beginning to hit the banking businesses. All those secure college educated white collar career jobs. Now we will see and hear dissent from the previous, "It can't happen to me I'm a Republican" people who have reality calling when they find out how much health insurance really costs, and how little welfare pays/unemployment pays. It will begin to open a few eyes.
