I am getting pretty sad when I look at the questions and answers in the music category. People posting questions like "doesn't this band suck" or "I hate this band". It's really annoying because even though I may not like the same kind of music you like doesn't mean I'm going to judge you or "bash" the kind of music you like. I myself am a rocker, and yes I get mad when bands call themseves something they are not, but does anyone else feel this way?

I hate that too. In my school my friend and I get craped on all the time because our favorite band is My Chemical Romance, and everybody "hates them". I think it's something that people do to make themselves feel better. Or it's something they do to make themselves feel cooler. That's the only reason I can think of. Or, you know, maybe they say stuff like that because they're ignorant. It's really hard to explain stupid people.

Any how, I know what you mean, and I hate it. No one is forcing them to listen to that certain band. And if they hate the band so much, why do they spend so much time talking about the band? Who knows?

I agree. Just because I may not like the same genre of music, or band even, as you (Or vice versa) doesn't mean that either of us should "bash" the other or that eithers taste in music is "better" or "right" because music is very subjective. As far as bands calling themselves rock when they aren't isn't really a big deal to me..The music itself matters to me more than what its classified as.

While I do agree with Deke that there are some people who are trying to produce more thought provoking questions that go much deeper than "Do you prefer...?" I have to somewhat disagree with his idea of "bashing". I do agree that by having an opinion different than yours and simply stating that I don't agree with you isn't *bashing*. But when people (like many do on here) start rudely and unnecessarily demoralizing bands and artists rather than just saying "Nah, I really don't like them too much..." now THAT'S bashing. And it happens a lot on here.

You can constructively critique an artist without becoming inappropriate about it. And that is what I don't like seeing on a lot of these pages, no matter how unworthy you believe someone is of fame and fortune. So yes, I am sick of seeing topics and responses of that nature, because all people are trying to do is stir things up when they do that.

It frustrates me in a way that people say they love this band, and it is the best, when they haven't listened to other bands, and those bands are better. They seem to be stuck with the bland, almost obnoxious dribble that conventional music is, and they are so convinced by the media's marketing that they think it is good.

Music today sucks because bands are manufactured and over-produced.

Back in the day (late 80's, b/f hip-hop took over), bands could start in a garage, play in local bars, perfect their sound and their act, and THEN hit the touring circuit.
Today, with crap like AI, you have unpolished people singing and the producers using technology to compensate for weak singing voices.
Not to mention the "song-writing by committee." Back in the day, U2 said something with their albums and their lyrics. Bruce Springsteen said something with his albums and their lyrics. What the hell does anyone today say?
And hip-hop is garbage.

People - that's YOU! - need to BOYCOTT the stupid tours (like AI and the $150 Eagles and Madonna tickets) and get back to seeing LOCAL bands in SMALL venues.

Kelly Clarkson sold 11,000,000 copies. That really depresses me. A marginal talent with nothing to say, and depressing music. If kids today heard "Murmur" by REM or "Goat's Head Soup" by the Stones, they would not be able to process it.

I totally agree. Everybody likes different things. You also should not give someone a bad answer just because you don't like what they say. A bad answer is just that...a BAD answer ! If we all liked the same things the world would be a really boring place. I love rock too :-)

It for sure sucks when someone asks ''the best song by whoever '' and all they get is ''that band sucks'' because that is not what they asked for and you shouldn't answer if you think they suck

First off, there is no such thing as "bashing". Just because there are opinions that differ from yours, that doesn't make it "bashing".

Secondly, there are lots of people here who are trying to "raise the bar" by asking more thought-provoking questions, as well as fun questions that will hopefully inspire creativity. We get tired of reading questions like "Britney or Christina", too. Damn tired of it.

Yes, I am so tired of that. I am just trying to ignore most of those questions.

And holy crap, if I see one more question about damn MCR I am going to go nuts!

Yeah, it's annoying. Music preference is no less arbitrary than what food you like.
