humans are social beings. we're often influenced by the others around us. if they're laughing, chances are that we'll join in.

It is not strange. I do it too. I think it is the social aspect we need to look at. I see things as funny. But what is the point of laughing if no one is around? I know it is funny. But if I want others to KNOW I think it is funny when they are around, I laugh.
Just my little opinion.

Yes, Laughter is contagious.
Have you realized that in many comedy shows they have the sound of the audiance laughing in the background so you laugh along that's why they record these shows in front of a live audiance so their laughter becomes part of the show

I laugh at everything, but i never laugh at movies. i remember going to movie theaters when i was 8 and all my friends are laughing and i'm like sitting there with a straight face, like "Wow. Dumb. No." But in real life, i think EVERYTHING is funny

They're much more fun to watch with someone else. I can't stand to watch The Office & Scrubs without my son, they're just not as funny.

Maybe you're laughing at your friends reaction more than what you see on the movie? Or maybe it is just that when you're alone you don't feel it is as necessary to outwardly show your amusement...
