Take it for what it is...Ignorance, a lack of understanding that all nubians are not the same. People tend to focus on anything that's different or outside the norm for them. Turn it all to a positive. If they say, "Hey white girl"..u say, "Hey..u like this style, right!" Meet their negativity with a positive reinforcing the fact that u are proud of who u are and not just a pack rat who follows.

I'm sorry to see that tendency has survived to infect yet another generation. I used to be dogged by the same situation for one reason or another ("you don't talk black" or "you wanna be white" as if speaking well was somehow a "white" thing). Oddly enough, I would get that from both whites and blacks from time to time (maybe it's encouraging that both sides can be so equally misinformed). Here's the thing: Though our genealogy is more difficult to trace as a result of slavery, we are nonetheless the descendants of kings and queens from one of the largest continents on earth, and there is strong evidence to support the assertion that human civilization began with us. So, when we speak with precision and authority and stand with pride and magnificent composure, aren't we in effect behaving in concert with the richness of our heritage moreso than some wannabe thug?
We live in a culture that seeks to pigeonhole us into molds that fit their ability to handle us conceptually. "Black people think this" or "they act like that"....the truth is, there is no collective consciousness, and no common brain among us (nor does such a state exist between any other group of people). So, keep doing what you're doing by not buying into the crap. In every way that matters, whatever it occurs to you to do is what black people do...because that's what you are.

Ignore these fools hun. I am a black woman of 38 years and do you know what 2 of my favorite CDs are that I blast in my vehicle daily? Linkin Park and Chris Daughty. I have been nagged and talked about since high school because I listen to "white" music. My boys even call me white. I love all types of music and ways and I am ME. I dont care what anyone says or how they feel. Be you and shug off these people. You cant go around punchin folk in the face for being idiotic. Tell them you are you and your going to be you. Dont laugh with them when you feel like they have disrespected them. You can tell them that the last time you checked you were black. Tell them to call you by your name or nothing at all and do not respond to dumb comments they make. G'luck!

Stereotyping any segment of the population, or person is wrong. Obama made a racist and inappropriate comment. Yes, I'm offended. But mostly I'm sad that Obama, who has convinced so many people there was only "one" America, obvious believes there are many different Americans, and he has a stereotype for the "typical white person."

OMG i was you less than 5 years ago. i spent almost my whole life defending myself because my family and friends used to make fun of me because of the same things and because i spoke properly ( i lived in cali most of my life so i didn't talk like them at all since they are all either from the south or east coast) after all of their grief and teasing I finally said to them "oh i get it now, you believe all of the stereotypes too. You think that being black has a cut and dry definition. so because i don't speak broken english, because i have a good education, because i'm not living off of the government and because i don't wear my pants past my ***, i'm not black"? well i guess i'm alright with that cuz it doesn't sound like it's really good to be black anyway. give it a try and see what they say. follow up with anything you can think of because they will get defensive but they need to know that black ain't all about one thing so give em hell intelectually. they will leave you alone eventually.

Maybe you should not care so much what these people say.

I mean - do they 'really' know you?
Do they understand what motivates you?

I`d be willing to bet the answer would be no, twice.

Just be above them.
A cliche saying is that offense is never given, only taken .. so quit taking it.

I know it`s easy for me to say, from the safety of my computer, but it works. I used to care too much what people said, or thought.
When i realized i only hindered myself with it - i stopped caring what a random idiot on the street might think.
Aaah.. the freedom!

You don't have to agree with trends or people that you don't want to. Don't follow leaders, be yourself.
But, if you take it too far and punch someone over this silly tripe, you will just get a reputation that you don't want...
If you really feel like punching them, at least think it out and do it well, so that you'll have something to talk about in Jail.

Nothing wrong with being white outside or inside, but don't listen to bullshit people telling you this or that... I know it is hard, but BE YOURSELF ONLY.

Ummmmmmm......you need to calm down. Why not just ignore people like that and be a class act? You language doesn't afford you the right to criticize other people now does it? Neither does your attitude.

Don't let ignorant people push you over the edge. Ignorance is something you can't fight with, you just have to deal.

They don't call me white...they call me *******. You know what I think of? The facts. Don't get offended by this because I'm not re-telling this for you, but for them...the british are even more of a ******* than me because they had to cross an ocean to get to North America, whereas South America (the mexicans) merely have to cross a river. --now...who are the decendants of anglos?
