Maybe it didn't come from a book -it's been around for a while, at least:
Thirty years ago in junior high gym class, girls worked out and chanted this little ditty:
We must, we must, we must improve our bust.
The bigger the better, the tighter the sweater.
We must, we must, we must improve our bust.
These days it goes more like this:
We must, we must, we must improve our bust.
Less droopier the better, more attractive the sweater.
We must, we must, we must improve our bust.
But there IS a book with that title:
"The Bigger the Better, the Tighter the Sweater" (Seal Press, $14.95) edited by Samantha Schoech and Lisa Taggart of Santa Clara. Women write candidly about their bodies."

It's from Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret! And it was written by Judy Blume.
The title character and three other pubescent girls are in a club where they try to get bigger boobs and wait for their periods to come.
