Well, this kind of depends on the purpose of these fun experiments. I assume that you want something simple and guaranteed to work. :)

Mixing vinegar and baking soda is always fun--if you do it in a narrow-mouth container (like a large test tube or an erlenmeyer flask), you can stretch a balloon across the opening and watch it expand with the gas that forms.

Another interesting experiment is to place open LB agar petri dishes (no antibiotics) in various places around the house school, etc. for one hour, then close the plates and incubate them to see what grows. I suggested this to my sister for a science project, and she found the most growth from the plate left in the kitchen!

Before a class starts, close the door and turn off the lights to a classroom and see how long it takes before someone realizes the door isn't actually locked.
