You could say something about the fact that, as foreigners overseas, the explorers and their crews spread contagious disease which were previously unknown to the indigenous people.

Also the native people were often mistreated by the explorers/foreign settlers. Many were forced to be slaves, to be bought and sold like cattle.

It's often easier to approach something like this if you break it down some. So, you have to offer a rebuttal to that? Well, why was the exploration of the New World not good? What bad things happened because of it? Were there exchanges of things like disease and ideas that caused problems? How did the New World explorations influence history? Seeing as how pretty much every exploration of a previously unknown region has produced both good and bad effects, I bet you can put together some kind of list. The hard part is going to be making a serious argument that the New World exploration was more bad than good, but there it is.

Fashion your rebuttals by studying the history of the time. Find a real character in history with a dissenting opinion and run with it. I know the church was not interested in exploration. You could start there.

One reason it was not good was that it disturbed the Native Americans and brought them disease, ended up taking over their lands, etc.... that's the only thing I can think of, hope it helps!
