Within 12 months? Probably not. No matter how prepared they are to handle thing I think they would still like to see some US presence there to assist them if needed........

Had the army not been disbanded we may very well have left by now. That was perhaps the dumbest and most ill-informed move of this little Iraq adventure. Instead we now have to build up a trained, disciplined "security force" who have heretofore proven themelves less capable than a 7th grade hall monitor.

No. We will be still be playing cops and robbers in Iraq for a decade or more. Thank you Mr. Bush.

Even the Iraqi government installed by the Bush administration knows how futile it is to try and get the U.S.A. out of their country. Bush claims Iraq's new government has not met 11 of the 18 'benchmarks' - especially the #1 non-military benchmark: passing a law that would equally divide oil profits among Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds.
In fact, this inane proposal is a repulsive scam initiated by the big OIL companies, in cooperation with the Bush-Cheney pro-oil adminsitration. Unlike Saudi Arabia, Iran and Venezuela, which has total control over all oil drilling and extraction, this 'benchmark' would give that control to Big OIL by opening two-thirds of Iraq's OIL fields to ownership by Exxon-Mobil, BP, and other multi-national OIL corporations.
Iraq's puppet government knows how unpopular that will be among its citizens...but the Bush 'spin' (stupidly supported by ignorant U.S. media outlets) is that Iraq needs to "get on with it" and pass these benchmarks.
Iraqi leaders know Iraqi citizens will not stand for big OIL owning over 60% of Iraqi's oil fields, and that's why there is such foot-dragging on these benchmarks. -RKO- 09/07/07

No I do not see that happening. The Iraq government is not that disillusioned. The president and parliament realize that they will be overrun by Islamic factions if they ask the US to pull out. Then we will have a country that becomes a massive training ground for terrorists.

No, their puppet government needs a huge dose of Viagra to be potent.

But, with current rate of 7-8 American soldiers killed daily, people of America will remove them.

The Iraqi government has already asked the U.S. to stand aside and let them get on with the business of governing. Tis is waht they were elected to do and they are as capable as any government, anywhere. What good is a free democratic election if the elected government is not allowed to govern?

Wow, it's EASY enough to see you've never been in the military so therefore you can't be trusted with ANY information concerning the war or military.
