What was the percentage of increase in motor vehicle production in countries outside the United States from 1950-1997?
1950=2571
1997=41344
so, I subtract 2571 from 41344 and get the increase number of 38773
next 28773/2571 and I get 11.19...have I done it right up to now and if so, what next...please help!!

Actually, your numerator should be 38,773 instead of 28,773, which would give you a value of 15.08.

The only step left for you to do is to take 15.08 and multiply it by 100 to convert it to percent. As a result, your answer would then be 1,508%.

It's 1508% .
Take the original amt ,2571, away from 41344 to get the amount of increase = 38773, then divide 38773 by the original amt, 2571.
It increased by a little more than 15 times.
Remember that a x1 increase =100%, x2 increase = 200% ,.. x15 = 1500%.
