My daughter wrote to the Queen and received an reply from the Lady - In-Waiting.
Does the Queen read the letter's that she receives? She she reply to the letters or is it all done by members of her staff?

I'm sure if it was a really touching letter that the "Lady-In-Waiting" would share it with the Queen... if allowed.

I'll bet she gets a ton of mail like any celebrity.

I think that's neat your daughter even received a reply!
Tell her to treasure it! I may become worth something in the future!! (You never know!!) :) :)

The Queen receives hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of letters each year. She rarely has the time to reply to them personally and this job is given to her Lady Clerks. It is unusual for a Lady-in-Waiting to reply on the Queen's behalf and that may be because it was a little girl who wrote and the letter was selected for a more 'personal' reply than the standard form reply issued by her Lady Clerks.

Personal letters are usually only received by VIPs as far as I know and the standard letter from the Queen on the birthdays of centarians.

If you got a letter from a lady-in-waiting, it means that the Queen read the letter you sent, personally.

it depends which lady-in-waiting.

One of her senior ladies? then yes, she probably read the letter and asked that her LiW reply to it.

Generally, only the staff in her office would probably respond.

You are asking a very confidential matter to be made public. But on the condition of anonymity and not to tell others I tell you that ,please come near and bring your ears to my mouth.shhhh... Queen does read that her name is written below the place where she is signing.

Depends on who you are, I suspect. If Tony Blair sent her a letter, I'm sure she'd get it.

(do people send letters still?)
