Do your research, but remember this, the candidate's religious beliefs and morals will not prevent him from making mistakes in office. His religious beliefs will not always render the best decision or the best end result. There are too many areas in politics where religion just doesn't have much influence and there are a lot of other people (senators, congresspeople, etc) involved in the decision making process that the President won't always be able to push his agenda through, even if the agenda has moral value. AND, people with morals and Christian beliefs are tempted just like everyone else, and often fall to temptation (just like everybody else). It is admirable for you to take this privilege so seriously and want to select someone who's heart is in the right place. Good luck!

I am not a Christian, but I would still like to add my little piece. Our hunting and gathering pre neolithic ancestors lived in egalitarian bands for 10's of thousands of years these people had a much higher value for human life than later social models. The introduction of materialism, ownership, and hierarchy by so called civilized society brought with it the need for control of the mass so that the would accept the unfair treatment of the ruling class. Morals are part of human nature, it is the system which is the evil bringer. As to the 10 commandments you can knock two of them on the head for a start. ADDED The first is the rantings of a paranoid god! And what does working on the Saturday have to do with morality? FURTHER ADDED the 10 C's is not only Christian. And those words of C.S. Lewis in the Quote above are an obvious falsehood and an insult to all non Christians. For the person below me, Maybe if some people didn't keep waving the Christian banner while insulting those who believe differently to them, non of this pro con Christian thing would be happening. I agree that we should all live together in peace, but the truth is the truth and If one can not state it without getting personally insulted. Then there is something seriously wrong! Oh and the thing about most serial killers having damaged brains is an urban myth you should do some reading up on FBI profiling for the facts. They are usually a result of up bringing, but that's a whole other question.

You would choose to place your voting priviledge in the hands of the people on Yahoo answers??!!! What is wrong with you?? Watch the debates, read the news, look up the web pages of each candidate to know their background and their voting record on serious issues like the war in Iraq, global terrrorism, and the economy.
I care about animals and unborn babies too but, seriously, there are more important things for our president to worry about. Vote for the most qualified individual as you see it, not for the one who just happens to say they care about your peripheral issues because the truth of it is that Rowe v. Wade is not going to be repealed and animals in slaughterhouses are 10 minutes away from being food!

My dear young, Christian sister.
I too am a Christian...PLEASE do not fall into the trap of voting on ONE issue.....yes, abortion is a terrible thing and I wish women didn't feel they had to do it, but it will always be legal......Republicans only jumped on that issue to get the Christian vote....they don't want to help the poor, be kind to immigrants, take care of the sick or those in jail....all the things Jesus told us to do...so they go around with photos of dead babies and get people who can't think to vote for them.
The right wing republicans are against abortion at all ever. the Lord allows free will so should we.
If you're into animal rights, republican ain't your ticket hon!
And, honey you are voting for the PRESIDENT..I'm not sure what a pesident is.
Stay away for Fox and conservative stations and think...use your brain...and by the way, there are more to morals than abortion and gay people.......what about capital punishment, war and other "family values?"

Most Republicans are against abortion, but all of the candidates almost it seems have questionable ethics, look at the other issues too and decide what's most important to you and make your choice, try not to focus just on social issues also focus on economic issues, foreign policy issues, etc.

the best place to go to answer your questions would be http://ontheissues.org has all the stances of the the candidates - just one word of advice though look at what the candidates have to say and their voting records in the past to see if they stand up to what they say - this way you dont use your vote on someone who is packaged well but when you open the box realize they are garbage made in china - alot of these candidates are defective

Let's see Rudy Guiliani was married 3 times, and he cheated on his second wife during 9/11.
Mitt Romney is member of the Mormon Cult.
The Republicans don't look good. I suggest that you look at the Democrats for moral leadership, because the Republicans say that they are for family values, but their actions show different.
Barack Obama is a good candidate
John Edwards is a also a good candidate
Hillary Clinton is a also a good candidate
Dennis Kucinnich is a also a good candidate
Bill Richardson is a also a good candidate

"i mean im fine with it as long as its only used for emergency purposes like rape or if it was a life or death situation. "
I don't understand this concept. Either you're for it or against it. If you were raped that justifies aborting the baby who had no say, just as a regular person aborting the baby has no say? Makes no sense what-so-ever. It should still be considered murder either way if your belief is only that of "emergency situations".
I'm for abortion if one feels they should do it.
Just about every damn republican is against abortion so check them out.
